With the possible exception of Stephen Fry and Lady Gaga, I am sure that most bloggers have times when they wonder if anyone is even reading their blog, let alone taking any notice. If they do, then I am not alone (and if they don’t, then I need to up my anti-paranoia medicine).
Imagine my delight, therefore, when I received a phone call yesterday from a chap who had entered “Property tax advice Cheshire” into his search engine and came across my website.
He decided to give me a call because he liked the fact that the content of the site was different from the average “accountant speak” churned out by most other accountants (thanks to Cécile Marchant at Microfold). Having spoken to me, he agreed that my site reflected my personality and professionalism – which is exactly what I’d set out to achieve.
I managed to sort out his tax problem over the phone and he was very satisfied with the service that he received. I didn’t raise a fee for the advice but asked him to make a donation to MacMillan Cancer Support. He responded with an email within half an hour of the phone call to say that he had made an online donation and that he would be making an appointment with me in the near future to discuss a family trust that was causing him some concern.
So if you’re doubtful that anyone is reading your blog, fear not. It only takes one person to read it and pick up the phone and all your hours of self-doubt disappear.
